TRANSTHEORETICAL MODEL OF CHANGE IN TREATMENT PLANNING: FROM PERFORMANCE TO OUTCOME GOALS IN PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION

Although setting SMART goals is a known requirement across the clinical settings, little training is devoted to improving competence in devising well-defined, written-out performance objectives needed to achieve desired outcome. This workshop will demonstrate how to utilize the model of change to develop goals that are both process- and outcome-centered.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Provide an overview of Transtheoretical Model of Change and its applicability to treatment planning.
  2. Identify the importance of both process- and outcome-centered treatment plan goals.
  3. Identify opportunities to diversify and individualize goal-setting by incorporating model of change in treatment.
  4. Identify opportunities to implement model of change in treatment planning for myriad of emotionally- and behaviorally-based diagnoses along with instructional practical exercises.
